In the magnificent Maasai Mara, you’ll find more than just a life-changing adventure—you’ll uncover lifelong friendships with like-minded adventurers and the people who live there. As you set off on a wildlife safari, bask in the shade of acacia trees and work on a development project, every minute on this trip opens the opportunity for you to connect with the Maasai and Kipsigis communities, each other and the world.

Lose yourself in the heart of the savanna

Trip Itinerary

  • 1

    Arrive in Nairobi

    Meet your ME to WE facilitator before heading to your hotel.

  • 2

    Visit the Kenya Giraffe Centre

    and David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Then catch your flight from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara and arrive at Bogani.

  • 3

    Meet local mamas

    and join them for a community water walk. Afterward, visit their boma, or homestead, to learn about their daily tasks. Then work on a sustainable development project. Later, explore a local primary school in a nearby community.

    Head out

    to a local subsistence market to learn more about the economic environment in which the community members live. Meet students at Kisaruni Secondary School, an all-girls high school built by our charity partner, and visit Baraka Hospital to learn firsthand from the doctors and nurses about the impact access to quality health care has made on the surrounding communities.

  • 5

    Spend some more time

    on the build-site working on the development project. In the afternoon, join local mamas to learn about the art of beading and learn how they’re each earning a sustainable income through traditional artisan projects.

  • 6

    Visit Oleleshwa farm

    to see the impact of WE Charity’s Food Pillar on the local community. In the afternoon, join our local guides on a safari excursion.

  • 7

    Meet women’s and men’s groups

    and learn how they’ve built up a support system to create an income for themselves. Enjoy your final day on the build-site and say your farewells to the community.

  • 8

    Embark on a sunrise safari!

    Step into the shoes of Maasai warriors with a medicine walk and traditional Maasai weapons training. Then enjoy a traditional Nyama Choma dinner—Kenya’s barbecue.

  • 9

    Take a short flight

    back to Nairobi and check-in to your hotel, where you will have access to a guest room to rest and recharge before your evening flight home.
